Phil Seymour in concert, Keystone Palo Alto, 1982
Phil Seymour's short-lived tenure on the pop charts resulted from a number of circumstances, some self-inflicted. Substance abuse affected his live performances and the quality of his second album, which was not a commercial success. And the death in 1982 of Neil Bogart, president of Seymour's label, Boardwalk Records, ultimately left him without a contract.
