English aristocrat and Formula 1 entrant Lord Alexander Hesketh began building his V1000 motorcycles (992cc, 86hp) in 1982, but numerous technical problems and weak demand forced the company into receivership after fewer than 200 were completed. A former Hesketh engineer today continues to build the bikes to order.
